Thoughtful use of color in this Raleigh home creates a highly personal and collected interior.
For designer Hannah Ozburn, this Raleigh new build was a particularly personal undertaking: The client was a dear friend, albeit one with decidedly different tastes. "Our open and honest relationship allowed us to make decisions easily, and I could push her outside of her comfort zone," says Ozburn. That creative tension proved especially fruitful in the interplay of color and pattern.
"There was a lot of push and pull regarding pattern and color selections," she says. "It simply required trusting me and the process." The family room, for instance, ultimately embraced a more saturated palette than originally envisioned, bringing unexpected vibrancy to the space.
Elsewhere, Ozburn translated her client's love of the coast into palm-frond motifs and botanical prints, a subtle nod to the beach in landlocked Raleigh. Layered throughout with travel finds, family heirlooms, and collected objects, the interiors strike a balance between spirited expression—and lived-in sophistication.
