A thoughtful expansion blends stunning architecture with the original character of a Georgian home.

Architect Lindsay McCullough understood why her clients—and longtime friends—were ready for a change. The owner's suite was dated and undersized, with an entry that felt neither private nor inviting. The solution was more than a renovation: an addition designed that felt as though it had always belonged.

Collaborating with Bourgeois McGinn, McCullough matched the new construction to the home's existing Georgian architecture with such precision that old and new nearly disappear into one another. "I didn't want the additions to look foreign in the context of the existing structures," she says.

The same sensibility shaped the replacement of the contemporary pool house with a freestanding structure that complements the main residence. Inside, designer Charlotte Lucas layered color and rich texture against arched plaster ceilings, warm oak, and oversized windows. The result is gracious yet effortless, creating spaces that feel connected to the original architecture—and as though they had always been part of the home.
